Dr. Stefan Iliev savchev
Specialist in Gynaecology, Obstetrics & Reproductive health
Dr. Stefan Iliev Savchev is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology with a wide range of knowledge in the subject, given his professional career and development have taken place in many countries. His practice in the USA, Africa and the Middle East and Spain offered him opportunities to work in very distinct environments, ranging from the lack of resources, typical for Africa to a University hospital in USA. This diverse environment needed mastering of numerous techniques, ranging from natural births without the use of episiotomy, to complex minimally invasive surgeries. In 2010 he began his PhD project on diagnosis and management of intrauterine growth restriction, that received a Cum Laude in his doctoral thesis defence in July of 2013.
Dr. Iliev´s field of study includes maternal-fetal medicine, diagnosis and management of fetal pathology. His scientific publications have been included in various international journals of diagnostics and management of intrauterine growth restriction. His expert skills in fetal ultrasound provide him the ability to make specialised anatomical studies, including neurosonography and echocardiography, as well as incorporate the new echocardiography techniques in 3D, and 4D.

Accepted in 1994 with state scholarship, he receives his mediacl degree in 2000.
Specialization in Israel
After learning Hebrew. in 2001 he is accepted in the residents program in one of the most prominent hospitals in the country with more than 6000 births a year. The educational system is similar to the that of the USA with a duration of 6 years. In 2008 he receives his European title of specialist in gynecology, obstetrics and reproductive health.
Equatorial Guinea
From 2008 to 2010 he works as a obstetrician/gynecologist in a new international hospital in Equatorial Guinea. This experience offered unique challenges, but eventually was a success, introducing quality medical care and reducing maternal morbi-mortality rate in Equatorial Guinea. He performed the first gynaecologist to perform a laparoscopy in the country.
Center for Life & Science, Boston
In 2010 and 2012, Dr Iliev dedicated his time to investigation and medical research. He focused his study on the different metabolic products in the follicular fluid, surrounding the ovule, and how the angiogenic factors affect the success of IVF treatment.
Phd Thesis
In July 2013 he defended his thesis on the development of biomarkers, to predict adverse perinatal outcome in fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction. The thesis was defended in front of an international tribunal and received Cum Laude distinction.
Team Cabero riera
Since 2012 he is a part of the Cabero Riera team, the biggest group practice in Catalunya, based in Quironsalud Hospital, Barcelona. Since 2015 he is the coordinator of the gynaecology emergency department and co-director of prenatal diagnostics.
